Suggestions

Welcome to the Redgate Monitor feature suggestions list. Tell us how we can improve Redgate Monitor by voting on these suggestions or by submitting your own ideas.

This is the easiest way to make an impact on Redgate Monitor’s roadmap. Check out the completed suggestions to see how your ideas have influenced us in the past. Please note that this list is one of multiple sources that drive our development, meaning that we will not always implement the highest-ranking suggestions.

To give your idea the greatest possible impact, please follow these guidelines:

  • Describe the goal you’re trying to accomplish, rather than a specific solution to get there
  • If you have a favoured solution, add it as a comment to your suggestion
  • Give us as much context as possible
  • Only make one suggestion per post. If you have multiple ideas, submit them in separate posts
  • Comment and vote on existing posts to develop the ideas — the Redgate Monitor team will often stay quiet initially about new suggestions to see what you have to say!

In Redgate Monitor, I want to...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Filtering on a Postgres Aurora Cluster based on Node

    When adding a Aurora Postgres Cluster to be monitored, if it has multiple nodes, say a reader/writer. Can we get a feature that will show only the metrics related to that specific node. Say I want to see only the CPU/Memory/Throughput for the writer node only and vice versa for the reader node.

  2. Add AM PM or military time to alert times since they aren't listed

    Would either want them in military time, or listed w/ AM PM so I know when they occurred

  3. Display total memory for memory graphs on summary screens

    The memory graph on the summary screen does not always show the total memory on the screen. It shows what is being used, but I have no idea how much is free.

    I have attached a file showing one one of my servers that has 128GB of total memory. However, the graph only shows 75GB and it makes it look like most of the memory is consumed.

  4. Show alert bubbles in other metrics, too

    I like seeing the alert bubbles in the main overview. It would be helpful to also be able to see them in the additional metrics shown below. Anothe option would be to align these other metrics with the main 4-metric window.

  5. Incremental Image Creation and Deduplicated Storage

    This is a formal customer-specific product enhancement from NTI requesting a significant architectural update to the Redgate Cloning platform. NTI utilises this solution extensively across a complex environment. As data volumes grow, the 'build from scratch' nature of the current Data Image creation process has become a critical bottleneck. This request seeks a design update that enables incremental image updates and deduplication to reduce the daily processing window.

  6. MS DTC down alert....

    I would like to see an Alert if MS DTC (the DTC service) has stopped\failed or doesn't restart after a reboot.

  7. Add a description for users in the manage users for active directory

    In some environments, the user login doesn't necessarily match the true user's name. This would help navigate what the user is assigned to that specific account.

  8. enhance Title on Analysis Graph Page with "machine metrics"; "machine name"; (all)

    Simply add to existing title with the selection of dropdown boxes as "machine metrics"; "machine name"; (all).

    So we don't need to scroll down or include the bottom boxes to know which machine and options are being displayed...

  9. filter webhook notifications

    I would like to be able to filter which webhook notifications get sent out via an option in alert settings - notifications.
    e.g. for each alert, we have the option to send an email to a default address, an alternative address, or don't send an email for this alert.

    As of SQL Monitor 11.1.8 Webhook notifications can be enabled and disabled for an alert type within alert settings (see screenshot).

  10. Have links on the Configuration/Alerts page look like links

    The alert names don’t look like links, so I never tried clicking on them until recently. That does work, as does clicking on the Description. However, some styling (blue text or a blue underline) would make this feature more discoverable for oblivious people like me. 😊

  11. Easily determine am/pm from the graphs.

    Currently it isn't clear by looking at a graph if the times are AM or PM. It would be helpful if hovering included AM/PM as well as the left and rightmost times shown on the bottom of the graph. It is confusing and takes effort to determine if I"m looking at morning or night.

  12. Add plus/minus tolernaces for unusual job durations

    Allow different tolerances to the plus and minus percentages for the "Job Duration Unusual". In some circumstances (especially when there may be a lot of data coming in and the disks are extremely busy), I don't mind a deviation of a few hundred percent positive in the deviation. But a negative deviation of 90% would likely indicate some of the expected data was missing (thus a problem).

  13. Extend Configuration list for configuration change alert

    We get a lot of configuration change alerts from our Postgres clusters like:

    synchronousstandbynames: Changed from ANY 1 ("xxx-postgres-1","xxx-postgres-3","xxx-postgres-2") to ANY 1 ("xxx-postgres-1","xxx-postgres-2","xxx-postgres-3")

    It would be great if the list for custom rules could be extended with this setting so we can ignore changes to it or even support adding custom names (so you don't have to add each and every setting known)
