An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedThanks for this suggestion, and for the supporting comments.
Regarding the comments around excluding alerts using regex, several alerts now allow you to enter regular expressions to match text you want to ignore, to stop alerts being raised in certain situations.
For example:
- Deadlock (XE) alerts can be filtered by database, login name & resource (added in version 8.0.22 released November 13th 2018)
- Blocking Process alert can be filtered to exclude queries with a SQL process names, SQL commands or objects match regular expressions
- Job Duration Unusual alerts can exclude jobs matching regular expressions
- Long Running Query alerts can be filtered to exclude queries with a SQL process names, SQL commands or objects match regular expressionsWe will keep this topic open as we are soon hoping to address the main suggestion - making alert configuration levels more discoverable - along with other improvements to alert configuration.
Thanks
An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedThanks for your suggestion Robert. We've logged this as SRP-6766
An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedThanks for the suggestion. You are currently able to exclude, for example, a DB from triggering a Backup Overdue alert (Configuration > Alert settings then select Machine, Server or DB in LH tree and select Configure Alerts) , but improving and extending this configurability as you suggest would be useful. We'll post back when we have any updates...

An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedHi,
This is an area we are looking to improve - could you give a bit more detail about the kind of customisation you would find useful?
Thanks,

An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedHi Darshan,
Thanks for your suggestion. I'd really appreciate understanding a bit more about how you might find this useful, what you would be trying to achieve? This will help us understand how we could improve the long running queries feature.
Thanks,

An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedAdding another suggestion relating to this:
"The wait resource or even better the object_name if applicable would be great to get in the Blocking Processes (Top 10 by Time) visualisation.

An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedHi Blaž - the changing width is a bug, so thanks for bringing it to our attention. The improvement we intended was to increase but fix the column width. We'll take a look at fixing this.
Thanks,

An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedGoogle translate:
1. The interface displays the server information indicators can increase the customization feature that allows users to choose the main panel to display the mysterious key performance indicators
- I think this is a request for something like a customisable dashboard?
2. Alert messages sent when the increase in different databases can be sent to different administrator mailbox
- It is possible to configure SQL Monitor to use a different recipient for an alert on a particular server (but not currently for different severities of alert)

An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedThe new server overviews in v.6 now allow you to focus on spikes in the main graph and see all the other metrics, including queries and processes, at that time. We've also added alerts to the timeline so you can see what alert activity was taking place at that time.
We welcome any further suggestions for improving the workflow, although this is now slightly off-topic from the original post so it could be useful to break further ideas into separate suggestions.
As for the ability to drill-down from Analysis charts to server overviews for a given data point, this is something we do think would be useful too and will hope to address.
Thanks,
AdamAn error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedWe're currently making improvements to the Analysis page (e.g. http://sqlmonitor.uservoice.com/forums/91743-suggestions/suggestions/1891823-select-multiple-counters-for-analysis ) and plan further improvements so this is something we will consider.
Thanks for the suggestion

An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedHi,
Thanks for the suggestion. This could be considered as an extension to an existing suggestion - the ability to store a baseline. https://sqlmonitor.uservoice.com/forums/91743-suggestions/suggestions/2059115-ability-to-store-a-baseline
This would allow you to store and manage your baseline, with the ability to include/exclude data from it. If you agree, I will merge your suggestion so that your votes are added to it?
Thanks again,

An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedThaks for your suggestion. I've logged this as SRP-9224 but would be interested to know a bit more about your requirements, what you would be monitoring and what, other than t-sql, you would like to be able to use to collect the data?

An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedThanks for your suggestion John.
We are working to integrate our tools along these lines so it's very useful to hear how this could work for you. It would be great to discuss this further - drop me a line at adam.walker@red-gate.com if you'd be happy to continue the conversation.
Thanks again for your feedback,

An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedHi Matt,
We have considered scheduling for custom metrics, so it's interesting to see your example of how it would be useful for you. We'll keep an eye out for further comments around this.

We’re looking into this – no ETA at the moment
An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedHi Kenny,
Thanks for the suggestion. I've raised this enhancement as SRP-5842. We'd like to improve the alert filtering so we'll certainly consider this.
Thanks

For SQL Server perf counters, you can create a Custom Metric against sys.dm_os_performance_counters. For Machine perf counters, you have to use CLI at the moment
An error occurred while saving the comment Adam commentedHi Joe,
Thanks for your suggestion. We agree this would be beneficial and it is something we've considered and will take a look at again. For the record, I've added your comment to issue SRP-305.
Thanks again for the feedback.
Hi Hugo
If you open the config file in %programdata%\red gate\sql monitor\RedGate.SqlMonitor.Engine.Alerting.Base.Service.exe.settings.config near the bottom you will see this:
<schedule qualifiedChannelName="[Cluster].[SqlServer].[Database].[Table].[Index]">
<weeklySchedule dayOfWeek="Sunday" hour="1" minute="00" />
</schedule>
The second line determines when the index fragmentation check runs and can be changed, the comments above it in the file explain the options.
Once that has been edited, restart the Base Monitor.
I hope that helps.
