Suggestions
Welcome to the Redgate Monitor feature suggestions list. Tell us how we can improve Redgate Monitor by voting on these suggestions or by submitting your own ideas.
This is the easiest way to make an impact on Redgate Monitor’s roadmap. Check out the completed suggestions to see how your ideas have influenced us in the past. Please note that this list is one of multiple sources that drive our development, meaning that we will not always implement the highest-ranking suggestions.
To give your idea the greatest possible impact, please follow these guidelines:
- Describe the goal you’re trying to accomplish, rather than a specific solution to get there
- If you have a favoured solution, add it as a comment to your suggestion
- Give us as much context as possible
- Only make one suggestion per post. If you have multiple ideas, submit them in separate posts
- Comment and vote on existing posts to develop the ideas — the Redgate Monitor team will often stay quiet initially about new suggestions to see what you have to say!
If you have any questions visit the Redgate Monitor forum.

Ability to monitor the execution of custom monitors and see history.
Would like to see when my custom monitors ran as well as the outcome. Particularly when testing, I'd like to check on the status. As a bonus, I'd love to be able to click a button and trigger and ad-hoc check at any time.

Configurable Alert Thresholds for notification alerts
I would like to suggest a new alerting feature for Redgate Monitor: the ability to configure notification thresholds based on the number of consecutive occurrences of an event.
For example, for SQL Server Agent Job failures, it would be useful to define a threshold so that an alert is triggered only after a job has failed a specified number of consecutive times (e.g., 3 or 5 failures), rather than generating a notification for every individual failure.
This enhancement could help reduce alert fatigue and notification noise, especially in environments where occasional transient failures may occur and do not require immediate…

option to Enable AI on selected SQL instances and Logging AI activity
it would be very useful to control which SQL instances have AI enabled. Perhaps an opt out or opt in under Monitored Servers
Even if data is said not to be sent from prem to LLM, enabling logging of the AI traffic per SQL instance, would go a long way ifor management buy in

Monitor sessions and stats on an Oracle Active Data Guard (open read only)
Currently, if you set up an Oracle Active Data Guard database in Red Gate, it detects that it is a standby database and doesn't gather any usage, session, activity, or other data from it. However since the database is open for read, there is session data, performance data, and other metrics created that are unique to this database. Basically, the request is to monitor an Active Data Guard database as a standalone database (with the caveat that it is read only).
If Red Gate could gather those stats without requiring sysdba privileges or connection to the primary that would be…

be able to see in Redgate Monitor who changed the status of an alert
We have a certain way of working with the tool and all of a sudden, a whole bunch of alerts that were marked 'read' (and what we think are worth looking at) are switched to 'read' ... and thus are no longer looked into ... as they are off the map. I can't figure out who made the status change right now. It would be a big plus if we could have status auditing in Redgate Monitor.

A Postgres 'monitor' that can't track blocking is not fit for purpose
We bought licenses for our Postgres RDS instances off the back of good experience with SQL Server. Wow are we disappointed. The glaring lack of something so basic as the ability to alert on blocking sums it up, a scenario made even worse by the fact that I am able to make custom metrics and alerts for this (just though, they're very limited).
Feels like the increasing breadth of dB platforms available means the quality is suffering.1 vote -
To have more granular filter options for historical query investigation
After selecting an instance from the main Overview screen and scrolling down to the bottom to select a specific database, I would like Redgate Monitor to be able to:
1) Provide the option to filter further to the database schema if desired.
2) Irrespective of what is selected above, see at least the top 100 Maximum Results in the small drop-down box instead of being limited to 50.
3) Irrespective of what is selected above, see more information about the originator of the query - i.e. user, login, application, host name etc.1 vote -
Enhancement Request – SQL Server Licensing Page
The SQL Server Licensing page should take into account the licensing model of monitored SQL Server instances. For example, Azure SQL Server VMs running under a Pay-As-You-Go licensing model should be identified and optionally excluded from the license requirement calculations.
If the purpose of the page is to help customers understand how many SQL Server licenses they need to purchase or maintain, consumption-based instances should be clearly highlighted and treated differently from instances covered by traditional licensing.
Otherwise, the licensing figures may be misleading, as Pay-As-You-Go workloads do not contribute to the customer's on-premises or bring-your-own-license requirements. Adding this distinction…

Ability to test notification scripts
The ability to add scripts into notifications has a lot of utility, but due to the built in parameters it is difficult to test the script without triggering the particular scenarios involved - so an ability to test the script with inputted values to the parameters such as AlertName would be beneficial

Enhancement Request - Allow Redgate Monitor built-in report the option to suppress sending blank reports
When using Redgate Monitor's built-in report options.
Reports menu
-> Add a new report
-> Add Tile
-> Tile type
-> Summary Tile
-> Summary Tile
-> Logon Failures.When scheduling a report to send an email, if there are no logon failures, the report is still sent blank. It would be a great feature to have a way to suppress sending a blank report/email if there are no logon failures.

Incremental Image Creation and Deduplicated Storage
This is a formal customer-specific product enhancement from NTI requesting a significant architectural update to the Redgate Cloning platform. NTI utilises this solution extensively across a complex environment. As data volumes grow, the 'build from scratch' nature of the current Data Image creation process has become a critical bottleneck. This request seeks a design update that enables incremental image updates and deduplication to reduce the daily processing window.

Be able to send the SQL Audit data to a SIEM tool
The existing SQL Audit information in Redgate Monitor is an invaluable amount of security information which can be useful for Security professionals who use a SIEM tool such as SentinelOne. Currently Redgate Monitor allows us to export. It would be great to see this as a feature.

Make the alerting system AG Aware
Similar in nature to the Job Duration Unusual Alert should be AG aware - there are many alerts we do not want to see on an AG secondary unless it is set to readable - things like server waits due to queries running on master etc generate alerts when running against a base line but we dont need to get the alert/notification if the AG is set to secondary

Raise alerts based on backup size
I'd like to be able to detect if differential and log backups are becoming too large. This could indicate that a lot of changes have been occurring and perhaps we ought to run a full backup soon (or more frequent transaction log backups).
For one, if the size of the differential is greater than the size of the full. Meanwhile, transaction logs could be more of a "relative to the last X backups over the last Y amount of time".

email and pager alert when redgate status is suspended
I would like to receive alert email and pager alert when sql instance is in suspended state. Alert should be received periodically till it is resumed. Currently no alert even though instane is in this state for ever. Powershell script is there to check status but to run this script port 8080 to be enabled and we cant run script on sql server to integrate with email/pager through job because port will be blocked on sql. Alternatively if you can provide table to check status of suspended instance on redgate db instance we can also configure alert by checking this…

Access custom metrics via the Enterprise API
We need to visualize metrics on central dashboards - the Enterprise API is PERFECT for that - except it currently does not support access to custom metrics.
Custom metrics are one of the most powerful things Redgate Monitor has - we really need the ability to access ALL of our information outside of the Redgate tool itself.

Ability to set up multiple webhooks
We are generating a work flow where alerts of a specific type are sent to a seperate monitoring tools and the rest to a google chat - both use webhooks, both to different locations - at the moment we are using a work around with script tasks....but ideally being able to set different webhook locations and message for different alert types would be beneficial

Export the list of SQL queries from waits
Can we please have the ability to export the SQL Queries from Top Queries/top waits.
This is to allow us to pinpoint remove queries that we wish to tune...for example Im only interested in queries that have been run over 1000 times with a logical read count on average being 2500....I think it would just be easier to do this from excel that way i can dice/slice the information up.1 vote -
Exclude queries from Blocking Alerts based on the blocked process rather than the blocking process
I want to be able to "mute" blocked process alerts based on information about the process being blocked rather than the process doing the blocking.
Currently, we can exclude queries based on the process name, query text, login name, database name of the blocking process, however the same level of exclusion cannot be made for the blocking process
I want to be able to exclude blocking alerts where the query being blocked is an Intellisense query. These could be identified by the process name but currently that only applies to the process doing the blocking
I think this probably should…

Allow Creation of time series charts based on alerts raised
There are times where you have an alerts such as low ple on a heavy use server, this will take several remedial measures to fix - having the ability to create time series charts showing amount of alerts raised over time for any particular alert on a particular server for a specified time frame would be helpful in assessing how affective any remedial actions are
