Suggestions
Welcome to the Redgate Monitor feature suggestions list. Tell us how we can improve Redgate Monitor by voting on these suggestions or by submitting your own ideas.
This is the easiest way to make an impact on Redgate Monitor’s roadmap. Check out the completed suggestions to see how your ideas have influenced us in the past. Please note that this list is one of multiple sources that drive our development, meaning that we will not always implement the highest-ranking suggestions.
To give your idea the greatest possible impact, please follow these guidelines:
- Describe the goal you’re trying to accomplish, rather than a specific solution to get there
- If you have a favoured solution, add it as a comment to your suggestion
- Give us as much context as possible
- Only make one suggestion per post. If you have multiple ideas, submit them in separate posts
- Comment and vote on existing posts to develop the ideas — the Redgate Monitor team will often stay quiet initially about new suggestions to see what you have to say!
If you have any questions visit the Redgate Monitor forum.

Testing the Availability Group listener(s)
If an Availability Group listener is not working for any reason (like no DNS resolution), but the ressource is still up in the cluster, SQL Monitor will not raise any alert.
Could you add a specific test for SQL monitor to test the connection using the availability group listener(s) and raise an alert if not successful?

Provide AAD authentication mode to connect to Azure SQL server apart from username and password authentication.
Provide AAD authentication mode to connect to Azure SQL server apart from username and password authentication.
Because if Azure SQL is set to AAD authentication only for security reasons in any organization, username and password to add new Azure SQL server/DB under SQL Monitoring doesn't help.

See Transaction Isolation Levels in Blocking Alerts
There are two methods I have been using to understand blocking situations on our servers:
The processes tab in the Blocking Process alert
The blocking processes section in the server overviewI can get a lot of information from both of these methods but I don't seem to be able to get the isolation levels of the blocking or blocked queries which would be helpful in understanding why the blocking situation has occurred.
Prior to using SQL monitor, we used the blocked process report to monitor blocking and these include the isolation levels. Unfortunately, I still have to resort to…

Limit user access on clusters
I would like to be able to grant specific AD users / groups access to specific instances on a cluster. Currently its only possible to grant access at the cluster level which gives more access than is necessary. This would be a supremely useful feature for me!

Environment specific Reports
As we have option to create different reports on SQL Monitor, We would like to have the option to create the reports as per environment (Dev,UAT,Prod) for Disk Space,Server Downtime etc. It will be more feasible if we can get a filter to create reports for the specific environment.

Superimpose the Disk I/O for VMWare Host on graph for Disk I/O
I'd like to get the Disk I/O for the VMWare Host superimposed on the graph just as I get CPU and Memory, it is very helpful to see the load on the host together with the load on the actual VM.

Have more retention periods for the data retention settings.
Right now on the data retention settings screen, there is only a drop down with a static list of ranges to keep data. It would be useful if these could be more granular, like being able to set both the number and interval (month, day, year). At a minimum, it would be nice if there were options between 1 year and indefinitely.

alert when database was created / dropped
It would be nice to have a build in alert when someone (e.g. a vendor) created or dropped a database.
Reasons:
- you may want to delete old backup files (if dropped) or have to modify / delete some maintenances
- you'll make a manual full backup of the new DB so that log-backups could be taken by your backup solution
- maybe you have to add the new DB to monitoring (as DLM Dashboard), backups (and have to consinder its the disk space at the backup drive) or an Excel-Sheet with a list of your databases :-)Real-Live-Example:

Exclude serverless databases from monitoring
Need the ability to exclude serverless databases from scanning. The purpose of using serverless is to suspend when not in use, drastically reducing costs. Currently these databases are "kept awake" by SQL Monitor and never go to sleep. This is a deal-breaker for use on some of our servers...

Save alert email addresses
I monitor a large enterprise and forward hundreds of alerts using cut/paste. If recent addresses were retained, it would save a lot of time.

Have option to keep the base instance name in display for availability groups
We have the option to choose between Windows cluster name and FCI network name for FCI. However, in an Availability Group scenario, every instance is being show by the cluster name first, which is obviously the same for all of them. This makes it difficult to identify the correct one when you need to look at a specific instance. Would like to add this as a configuration option so that clustered AG servers we can also choose whether to use cluster name or instance name as display

View stats for queries across databases and / or servers
Given that one has multiple similar databases, recieving the same queries, having same indexes and so forth. Currently one are able to view top-queries on server and database level, but what would be very valuable is to see the same information across databases on a server and across servers where one would then match the query on a content of the query itself. Then one could pinpoint globally what queries that has high io / cpu / ... even tough they on a individual db-level is not "high"

Create smaller timeframes on the server overview page.
Currently if you dive into the overview page of a certain server the default timeframe is 24 hours, you can narrow this into 12,6,3 and 1 hour.
I would like to have the opportunity to narrow it down into minutes.like a custom time frame. This helps to do a more clean investigation.

Remember the Filter Layout
On the Alert Inbox it would be nice to be able to re-arrange the filters and for the options to be remembered no matter where I login.

SQL Monitor to Authenticate Directly with Office 365, Exchange Online
Hello, it would be great if SQL Monitor could authenticate directly with Office 365 rather than having to use an on-premises SMTP server. Exchange Online is probably the most widely used email service for business and the application is unable to successfully authenticate with it. Thanks.

Create a threshold for how many times a job can fail before raising an alert.
We have jobs that fire every minute, or every 5 minutes - similar to heartbeat jobs. If the job fails once or twice, we don't care. If it fails 10 times in a row we do care.
