Welcome to the Redgate Monitor feature suggestions list. Tell us how we can improve Redgate Monitor by voting on these suggestions or by submitting your own ideas.

To give your idea the greatest possible impact, please follow these guidelines:
- Describe the goal you’re trying to accomplish, rather than a specific solution to get there
- If you have a favoured solution, add it as a comment to your suggestion
- Give us as much context as possible
- Only make one suggestion per post. If you have multiple ideas, submit them in separate posts
- Comment and vote on existing posts to develop the ideas — the Redgate Monitor team will often stay quiet initially about new suggestions to see what you have to say!

Pull Server Certification Info
Would like to request enhancement to be able to create a report to pull Server Certificate info, and have an email sent out to notify us 30/60/90 days before hand when it will expire. Pull details like the certificate issuer, validity period, and common name from the server certificate installed on the target machine.

Monitoring of Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server
With the introduction of monitoring of MysQL it should also be great if we can get monitoring of Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server.

using standard user rights one should be able to create an alert suppression and only remove one if that one was made by the same user
DEVOPs team know when they have planned changes and in that case it would be good that they can create alert suppression and after the change removing that without we need to grant them admin rights

Improved windows range handling for Individual query monitoring
The current windows range on the new Query executions tab is fixed to 2 hours. Should be great if the length of the windows range could be customised.
At the same time make it working together with the zoom range on the History tab. This so if you have zoomed in to a certain time range on history tab then when opening Query executions the same time range should be used as the windows range. Alternatively you could use the same type of windows range and zoom range that are already used on the History tab.

Enhance query tagging in monitior overview.
Add extra functionality to query tagging: allow colour coding of tags, add comment text to tagged queries, enable query tagging in postgresql (I am current using postgresql monitor v14.0.34 with server deployed SQL server, SQL Azure and PostgreSQL Aurora).
Is there any timeline for this?

I would like to customize the behavior when job failures happen. We get an alert on the 1st but no additional until the job is successful
I would like to customize the behavior when job failures happen. We get an alert on the 1st error but no additional alert until the job is successful. It would be nice to have the ability to allow this behavior as a default but then have the option to have specific Job Failures alert every time (mainly for jobs that run weekly or greater).

In AzureSQL, I would like Redgate Monitor to not "keep awake" systems which are set to "sleep".
Within AzureSQL you can set SQL Servers to be Serverless and also to "sleep after" a time window. This means you can save money for systems which are not heavily used.
I think Redgate Monitor needs to have a "light touch" mode for such systems where it will firstly check the config and say "ok, this server is asleep, I dont need to look at it" before reporting maybe in the infomration status "system asleep". When the system wakes up, it should monitor as normal.

File Usage per File Group within the DB
Want to be able to set database file usage per drive level on the server level. But there are many times when a vendor created db, they have multiple data files mdf/ndf and have them set to limits. So i was wondering can we get even more granular. I want to be able to drill down to the database and select a particular file group and say ignore this drive, it has meet its capascity and even though its 100% filled data is no longer being written there. And the reason behind that is there can be multiple data files…

Add alias to rest api
The rest endpoint api/v1/monitored-entities should include the alias field. It would present as an empty string if the monitored entity does not have as an alias and filled in if an alias has assigned to the monitored object.

Alert suppresion window by specific date every month
We do our maintenance on scheduled windows on the 20th and 21st day of every month, including weekends.
Currently, it is not possible to set up such a recurring alert suppression window.
Can you add this to the Redgate Monitor alert suppression settings?3 votes -
Add ability to monitor mongodb hosted on Windows
Add the ability to monitor mongodb instances hosted on Windows - currently only Linux selfhosted mongodb instances are supported.
I suppose this will not be a very popular suggestion because most organisations are hosting mongo on Linux, but for the few that do - like us - it'd be very nice to have.
I would expect this one would be easy to implement as there already is a need to enter Windows credentials for monitoring when adding SQL Server hosted on Windows.

Report to identify alert overrides
We are using the alert categories "Host machine alerts", "Instance Alerts", "SQL Server alerts", and "Availability Group alerts" for our SQL Server environment. We have defined general thresholds for the alerts w/in each category. We then have situations where we override the alerts for a monitored object in an alert subgroup or the monitored object itself because the general alert threshold(s) don't make sense for the sub group or the object. It would be very useful to have a report which shows where we have performed these alert overrides. A report showing where an alert is overriden or a report…

for Alert "regarding "instance alerts" - Cluster failover - for Postgres", would like to have it available on the individual server level and not just the monitoring group. That way we can customize our notification accordingly.

Additional column for each statement with the total duration including the wait time
On the history dashboard, I would like to have an additional column in the top queries area in which the duration including the duration of the wait events is displayed for each statement.
So far I have assumed that these are already included in the existing duration column. In context with a service request, I understood that this is not the case.
At first glance, I need the actual total duration without manually adding the waits statement by statement.

Custom Metrics are specific to a base monitor without a way to copy them
I have to create all custom metrics and alerts 3 times, once in each base monitor. And there is no way in the UI to copy from one to another.
I guess this makes sense because each base monitor only knows about the groups and targets it has. But it would be a great enhancement if the UI supported copying the custom metrics from one base monitor to another.

be able to add individual machines instead of an entire cluster
Right now when adding a node to Redgate Monitor and if it's part of a cluster, the entire cluster is added (even when switching off the auto-discovery of the clustername as this is only applied to the name itself).
Especially with large cluster estates, it's not possible to add a single node instead of the entire cluster.
This has impact on licenses, as the entire cluster needs to be licensed instead of each individual node that you actually want monitoring for.12 votes -
Allow changing first day of week
I would be nice to be able to configure the first day of the week as Monday, instead of Sundays. This is the most common definition of weeks in Europe. Other parts of the world have different perspectives, so any day should the selectable.
This is visible in all dropdowns where a date can be selected.1 vote -

I would like to suppress an alert in PostgreSQL log
I would like to suppress an alert in PostgreSQL log, I made a configuration but it is not working, I keep receiving the alert coming from the PostgreSQL log. Support told me it is only possible for SQL Server.
