Suggestions
Welcome to the Redgate Monitor feature suggestions list. Tell us how we can improve Redgate Monitor by voting on these suggestions or by submitting your own ideas.
This is the easiest way to make an impact on Redgate Monitor’s roadmap. Check out the completed suggestions to see how your ideas have influenced us in the past. Please note that this list is one of multiple sources that drive our development, meaning that we will not always implement the highest-ranking suggestions.
To give your idea the greatest possible impact, please follow these guidelines:
- Describe the goal you’re trying to accomplish, rather than a specific solution to get there
- If you have a favoured solution, add it as a comment to your suggestion
- Give us as much context as possible
- Only make one suggestion per post. If you have multiple ideas, submit them in separate posts
- Comment and vote on existing posts to develop the ideas — the Redgate Monitor team will often stay quiet initially about new suggestions to see what you have to say!
If you have any questions visit the Redgate Monitor forum.

On the Alerts Group Details > Blocking Process page, I want to see Start, End, and Blocked Process Count columns columns
I would like to see Start and End columns or a Duration column, along with a Blocked Process Count.
When displaying the Process tab on the detail page, it would be helpful for each blocked process to display as a collapsed line in a tree, each branch of which can be expanded. Each line should display the SessionId, Start and End or Duration, and the Application, Host, User, and the first (n) characters of the SQL fragment. It is great to have all the details available, but I currently get one huge page with no navigation for one blocker (see…

Custom Metrics are specific to a base monitor without a way to copy them
I have to create all custom metrics and alerts 3 times, once in each base monitor. And there is no way in the UI to copy from one to another.
I guess this makes sense because each base monitor only knows about the groups and targets it has. But it would be a great enhancement if the UI supported copying the custom metrics from one base monitor to another.

"Whats new" should link to the relevant release notes under "New features" tab
It currently only shows up the the release currently running, not what is in the new release. I have to search the web site to find out whether there is anything in the release that I care about enough to upgrade.

Set database file usage per drive level on the DATABASE LEVEL
, i know we can set database file usage per drive level on the server level. But there are many times when a vendor created db, they have multiple data files mdf/ndf and have them set to limits. So i was wondering can we get even more granular. I want to be able to drill down to the database and select a particular file group and say ignore this drive, it has met its capacity and even though its 100% filled data is no longer being written there. And the reason behind that is there can be multiple data files…

customize email notifications
I would like to be able to customize the email notifications in redgate through the use of variables that can be substituted anywhere in the email notification (title, body etc..). At the very least I would like the alert id to be added to the title of the email and not just the body.

Server & instance stats on main window
I'd like to be able to see at a glance the basic details of my instance and the server on which it is running.
I would love if I could see the following on the main screen:
• SQL Server Version — SQL Server 2022 CU16 | 16.0.4150 (CU16)
• Server Version — WS 2022 21H2 | 20348.2762
• Instance details — 3x 3.0GHz | 12GB | 1TB (or whatever is allocated to the instance)
• Free Space — 0.1TB of 1TB (drives will have to be chosen)
• Instance status — SERVER\NAMEDINSTANCE
• No. of Instances — 6 (only…1 vote -
Get notification for when a SQL Agent job is in a retry state
Hi, it would be really useful if SQL Monitor could identify when any currently executing job steps are in a retry state. We have many such jobs and the time lost whilst they are in such a state is frustarating as if we had notification we could take action. I appreciate I can roll my solution but would be nice if SQL Monitor could do it :)

Ability to export backup history detail for providing audit information easily.
possibilities I can think of that might help to add are each backup having it's own export button when the backup history graph is expanded out, including the backup history on the current excel sheet or possibly having a summary report for it in the Reports section
