Suggestions
Welcome to the Redgate Monitor feature suggestions list. Tell us how we can improve Redgate Monitor by voting on these suggestions or by submitting your own ideas.
This is the easiest way to make an impact on Redgate Monitor’s roadmap. Check out the completed suggestions to see how your ideas have influenced us in the past. Please note that this list is one of multiple sources that drive our development, meaning that we will not always implement the highest-ranking suggestions.
To give your idea the greatest possible impact, please follow these guidelines:
- Describe the goal you’re trying to accomplish, rather than a specific solution to get there
- If you have a favoured solution, add it as a comment to your suggestion
- Give us as much context as possible
- Only make one suggestion per post. If you have multiple ideas, submit them in separate posts
- Comment and vote on existing posts to develop the ideas — the Redgate Monitor team will often stay quiet initially about new suggestions to see what you have to say!
If you have any questions visit the Redgate Monitor forum.

I would like to see the top 10 queries by database sometimes instead of the entire instance.

Exclude offline databases from backup alerts
Exclude all offline data bases from the overdue backup alert as we do not have a need to backup an offline data base. For us if a data base is taken offline it's most likely because its been migrated to another server or no longer needed and will eventually be deleted.

documentation
Add Server documentation such as:
- app owners,
- support type (24/7, next business day),
- escalation contacts (clients to contact for unscheduled maintenances),
- primary purpose (main application using the server, business function)
- Add costum fields for server notes or setup instructions

Add Single Sign-On (SSO).
We would love to have Single Sign-On added so we can use CAS for authentication. This feature would really help make things easier even more so then LDAP/NTLM even... I know I been on a support ticket for weeks to have a "work around" be the answer.

Offer SQL Monitor as a Saas model
Would be great to offer sql monitor on a Saas model. $50 per server per month for example.
Purchasing software upfront is expensive for small/medium companies. This also offers more flexibility to add and remove licenses in line with how companies add and remove new servers.9 votes -

Use base monitor service user account to authenticate with vcenter
When monitoring a vcenter deployment, it would be nice if the base monitor service could just delegate the credentials it is running as rather than entering them in the username and password boxes inside sql monitor.

Re-fire alert notification if alert stays active
My initial problem was that an alert that was still active was marked as cleared, but I wanted the alert to 're-appear' as essentially it hadn't been fixed.
This then led me to thinking about any alerts that can move from Active to Ended. It would be useful to configure these is such a way that if they stay Active for a given period, then they re-fire. I understand that is what the multiple thresholds can be used for (especially if the thresholds define time periods) but in this case I may already be at High, there is no further…

Long running query alerts and daylight saving time changes
many long running query alerts generated between 1 am and 2 am on Sunday 11/5, as the time change caused it to add an hour when calculating all the query times. Can the alert be adjusted to account for the time change?

Manually rerun a metric
When an alert pops up, after I fix the problem, I want to refresh the metric to ensure that it was fixed. There's no way to tell how often the data is refreshed.

Allow extended email addresses "xxx<myemail@yyy.com>" or custom prefixes for subject line
I send my alerts to a tech-staff group and would like to add specific text for end users to filter all SQL monitor emails against. Either allowing extended email address like "xxxmyemail@yyy.com"
or some global prefix that can be added to subject (or body for that matter). Right now I don't see any reference to redgate or sql monitor to distinguish it from other monitoring email I receive.1 vote -
Have choice to send email as plain text
When I have it send email to my text service it's HTML, which obviously makes the text msg very large. Allow choice to send alerts via plain text.

Customized Alerts
Hi,
Can we get a report which shows top 10 databases by growth over a certain period of time, across all the monitored SQL instances?
There should be one graph which shows top 10 databases by growth, gathering data from all the databases scattered across multiple SQL instances, rather than multiple graphs showing top 10 databases by growth.
It would be nice to have so that we can determine what databases do we need to focus on.
Thanks,

Restrict the read only role to only the "Overview" page.
I've explored using Read Only views for SQL Monitor and they work great, while really parring down the amount of information that the user can see. However, is there are way to lock it down even further so that they can only see the homescreen with the colored status on the specified SQL Instances? Essentially only allowing them to see status without drilling down into the instance itself and viewing waits, disk, CPU etc.
This could be used by management, etc.
