Suggestions
Welcome to the Redgate Monitor feature suggestions list. Tell us how we can improve Redgate Monitor by voting on these suggestions or by submitting your own ideas.
This is the easiest way to make an impact on Redgate Monitor’s roadmap. Check out the completed suggestions to see how your ideas have influenced us in the past. Please note that this list is one of multiple sources that drive our development, meaning that we will not always implement the highest-ranking suggestions.
To give your idea the greatest possible impact, please follow these guidelines:
- Describe the goal you’re trying to accomplish, rather than a specific solution to get there
- If you have a favoured solution, add it as a comment to your suggestion
- Give us as much context as possible
- Only make one suggestion per post. If you have multiple ideas, submit them in separate posts
- Comment and vote on existing posts to develop the ideas — the Redgate Monitor team will often stay quiet initially about new suggestions to see what you have to say!
If you have any questions visit the Redgate Monitor forum.

Blocking process Hover Information should show Total Blocking Duration
The (Restored in 8.0.6) hover over the Alert List's "Last Updated" column shows the duration of the Alert itself, NOT the total time involved.
Unless you memorize the configuration of this Alert for each of its 3 severity levels, and assume they never change, and never vary by server, nor by database... you must sill open each event to see the "Total blocking duration for all descendants" published under the "Details" tab, then add that to the event duration, for which you must now do time subtraction as there is no "Duration" on the Status line... (another omission).

be able to be advised if a certain query (sql_handle or query_hash) is suddenly taking much longer than normal to execute. Not only to see
I would like to be able to be advised if a certain query (grouped by sqlhandle or queryhash) is suddenly taking longer than normal to execute.
The query may or may not be included in the top 10 queries.

Customize Disk Space alert for C: drive on all servers
SQL Monitor allows me to set global settings for Disk Space alerts, and then override for a complete server group, for all disk of one single server, or for a specific disk.
What I want is to have different settings for the system drive (C:) as compared to the other drives, Currently I need to set this for each individual C: drive, so one change per server.
Please make it possible to specify global settings (applying to all disks on all servers), and then add an override for C: on all servers.

SQL Monitor acquiring shared locks on objects
Is it necessary for SQL Monitor to acquire shared locks on objects when monitoring a SQL instance?
We experienced a deadlock on our system when SQL Monitor was trying to query a system table msdb..backupset at the same time that on of our maintenance plans was deleting backup history as one of its sub tasks.
It would be nice if we could either set the isolation level per alert or if you guys would amend your code to use nolock query hints?

Timestamps in UTC
Currently, timestamps in charts and elsewhere are displayed in local webbrowser timezone. I need all the timestamps in UTC. I need to share screenshots with colleagues in different timezones and having them in UTC is a must have.

Clone a report and change the server name globally within it
I have crafted a report for my servers. I understand there's some behind-the-scenes scripting I can do to replicate a report, but the GUI could provide a "Clone Report" option, allowing me to change the server name reference on all the widgets. Sure would make deploying one extra server easy.

View trace queries without alert
It would be nice to be able to view Trace queries without an alert. For example a separate page to go through the queries against the DB even when an alert is not raised.

Add ability to search Server Log
I would like the ability to search the error log or at least filter out some alerts. For example, we get about 45 "Log has been backed up" log entries every 15 minutes. It's very hard to actually find things on redgate without having to login to the SQL server and filter there.

Displaying the actual names of the disks and not just the Volume Number for the Disk space alert
In SQL Monitor when you are using the disk space alert in conjunction with multiple volumes on different mountpoints SQL Monitor tends to display just the HardDisk Volume number in the alert, this is extremely unhelpful as it means you have to log on to the physical server, launch diskmgmt.msc and match the disk thats alerting to take any action. Is it possible to just display the mount point name as opposed to the Disk Volume Number? This would be extremely helpful and would give a wealth of information instantly.

be be able to send alerts to multiple Slack channels
At present I can only use one Slack channel for SQL Monitor. I'd like to be able to specify a channel per alert - for example I have a custom alert and it would be good to be able to send a message to a designated Slack channel

Analysis Graph Tab
This is about the Statistics for the Disk avg. read and write metrics.
There are times when based on the results for a server the statistics are presented in seconds. More often than not it will be 0.0, 0.2 sec, etc.
This is not very helpful, and I often find myself having to download the Export (csv) and get the average. It would be much more beneficial to just show all results in milliseconds, or present an option to the end user of seeing ms or seconds.
Thank you

Filter for VMWare virtual machine list under Manage VMWare hosts
Add a filter in the vmware host to list only monitored servers. On and off checkbox would be enough.

Remove a user/group from SQL Monitor
It would be desirable to be able to remove a user and/or group from SQL Monitor.
At present, there are no options to manage them, only add them.7 votes -
Tag alerts for reporting
I would love to be able to create custom tags for alerts so I can later report on them. For example, we have process that run regularly that causes blocking sessions here and there. I would love to be able to add multiple tags to an alert that later I can run reports to see if those process have a regular pattern of interrupting business.

Access rights on database level
CONTEXT: We want to give our developers access rights to there databases alerts (long running queries, blocking processes, deadlocks ...).
PROBLEM: Access rights are only allowed on sql server instance level. Database1 should only see dev team1, database2 should only see dev team2. This is not possible at the moment.
