Suggestions
Welcome to the Redgate Monitor feature suggestions list. Tell us how we can improve Redgate Monitor by voting on these suggestions or by submitting your own ideas.
This is the easiest way to make an impact on Redgate Monitor’s roadmap. Check out the completed suggestions to see how your ideas have influenced us in the past. Please note that this list is one of multiple sources that drive our development, meaning that we will not always implement the highest-ranking suggestions.
To give your idea the greatest possible impact, please follow these guidelines:
- Describe the goal you’re trying to accomplish, rather than a specific solution to get there
- If you have a favoured solution, add it as a comment to your suggestion
- Give us as much context as possible
- Only make one suggestion per post. If you have multiple ideas, submit them in separate posts
- Comment and vote on existing posts to develop the ideas — the Redgate Monitor team will often stay quiet initially about new suggestions to see what you have to say!
If you have any questions visit the Redgate Monitor forum.

Add Unallocated Disk Space % to the History view for a database
For Azure SQL Databases, this view currently has check boxes for DTU, CPU, Data IO, and Log IO, which are all checked by default. It would be great to add a check box for Space, which would not be checked by default and would show Unallocated Disk Space %.

Add custom banner to the logon page
Basic authentication is sufficient for simple installations for few users. But security recommendations require a custom banner be displayed at the logon page. It will be nice if Redgate Monitor can do that without using OpenID or other external authentication methods.

Filtering on a Postgres Aurora Cluster based on Node
When adding a Aurora Postgres Cluster to be monitored, if it has multiple nodes, say a reader/writer. Can we get a feature that will show only the metrics related to that specific node. Say I want to see only the CPU/Memory/Throughput for the writer node only and vice versa for the reader node.

Security auditing
Monitor SQL Server login and database user activity to identify unused or anomalous accounts. Supports security audits, enforces the Principle of Least Privilege (POLP), and helps retire or restrict dormant or misused accounts.
The tool will collect and analyze login usage data across all servers and databases. It will:
Report accounts that have not been used within a configurable time period.
Identify accounts active in unexpected contexts (e.g., unauthorized hostnames or outside normal business hours).
Allow administrators to define thresholds or parameters for expected usage and generate alerts when violations occur.

Want Estate page to report patch correctly for GDR only instances.
In the SQL Server versions page under Estate, Redgate Monitor checks for the “Latest available update” for each SQL instance. It compares the instance level with the latest patch released on the CU-path for the instance version and sets the Status column as appropriate, flagging where a patch is missing, be that CU or CU+GDR.
I would like an option to set specific SQL instances to be on the GDR-only pathway and have Redgate Monitor check and provide accurate last GDR patch and status detail for those too.
Without this change, GDR-path instances can show as "update needed" (yellow) in…

service now event creation
ServiceNow integration current creates incidents directly in ServiceNow. Due to corporate standards we aren't allowed to directly create incidents. All monitoring integrations to ServiceNow have to create "events", which are then mappen within ServiceNow to incidents (where applicable).
Please consider adding an option to create events instead of incidents.1 vote -
update MS teams channel alerting to send alerts to various channels and not just a single channel
Much like when using SMTP alerts, can you add the ability to specify an alternative channel for alerts sent from a specific server or group of servers.
for example, if I have 2 groups of severs,
- producion alerts to channel 1
- non-productions server alerts to channel 2the core issue is we have multiple "products" monitored (production and non-production) and
we don't want the noise from the first product to be visible to the second, or third products.Currenly we use email groups for this but with changes in O365 we are under pressure to stop using SMTP.

Export the list of SQL queries from waits
Can we please have the ability to export the SQL Queries from Top Queries/top waits.
This is to allow us to pinpoint remove queries that we wish to tune...for example Im only interested in queries that have been run over 1000 times with a logical read count on average being 2500....I think it would just be easier to do this from excel that way i can dice/slice the information up.1 vote -
Raise alerts based on backup size
I'd like to be able to detect if differential and log backups are becoming too large. This could indicate that a lot of changes have been occurring and perhaps we ought to run a full backup soon (or more frequent transaction log backups).
For one, if the size of the differential is greater than the size of the full. Meanwhile, transaction logs could be more of a "relative to the last X backups over the last Y amount of time".

Be able to send the SQL Audit data to a SIEM tool
The existing SQL Audit information in Redgate Monitor is an invaluable amount of security information which can be useful for Security professionals who use a SIEM tool such as SentinelOne. Currently Redgate Monitor allows us to export. It would be great to see this as a feature.

Incremental Image Creation and Deduplicated Storage
This is a formal customer-specific product enhancement from NTI requesting a significant architectural update to the Redgate Cloning platform. NTI utilises this solution extensively across a complex environment. As data volumes grow, the 'build from scratch' nature of the current Data Image creation process has become a critical bottleneck. This request seeks a design update that enables incremental image updates and deduplication to reduce the daily processing window.

If report metric returns no data, do not send report via email
Have a way within the Email settings to select an option that will not send a report if no data is collected. Or a possible option when setting up a custom metric alert for a report.

To have more granular filter options for historical query investigation
After selecting an instance from the main Overview screen and scrolling down to the bottom to select a specific database, I would like Redgate Monitor to be able to:
1) Provide the option to filter further to the database schema if desired.
2) Irrespective of what is selected above, see at least the top 100 Maximum Results in the small drop-down box instead of being limited to 50.
3) Irrespective of what is selected above, see more information about the originator of the query - i.e. user, login, application, host name etc.1 vote -
A Postgres 'monitor' that can't track blocking is not fit for purpose
We bought licenses for our Postgres RDS instances off the back of good experience with SQL Server. Wow are we disappointed. The glaring lack of something so basic as the ability to alert on blocking sums it up, a scenario made even worse by the fact that I am able to make custom metrics and alerts for this (just though, they're very limited).
Feels like the increasing breadth of dB platforms available means the quality is suffering.1 vote -
Get notification for when a SQL Agent job is in a retry state
Hi, it would be really useful if SQL Monitor could identify when any currently executing job steps are in a retry state. We have many such jobs and the time lost whilst they are in such a state is frustarating as if we had notification we could take action. I appreciate I can roll my solution but would be nice if SQL Monitor could do it :)

Ability to export backup history detail for providing audit information easily.
possibilities I can think of that might help to add are each backup having it's own export button when the backup history graph is expanded out, including the backup history on the current excel sheet or possibly having a summary report for it in the Reports section
