Suggestions
Welcome to the Redgate Monitor feature suggestions list. Tell us how we can improve Redgate Monitor by voting on these suggestions or by submitting your own ideas.
This is the easiest way to make an impact on Redgate Monitor’s roadmap. Check out the completed suggestions to see how your ideas have influenced us in the past. Please note that this list is one of multiple sources that drive our development, meaning that we will not always implement the highest-ranking suggestions.
To give your idea the greatest possible impact, please follow these guidelines:
- Describe the goal you’re trying to accomplish, rather than a specific solution to get there
- If you have a favoured solution, add it as a comment to your suggestion
- Give us as much context as possible
- Only make one suggestion per post. If you have multiple ideas, submit them in separate posts
- Comment and vote on existing posts to develop the ideas — the Redgate Monitor team will often stay quiet initially about new suggestions to see what you have to say!
If you have any questions visit the Redgate Monitor forum.

Add database changes details based on the zoom range
In the "Databases" section when selecting one, we would like to have a list of the database changes that happened based on the "zoom range" period.
Right now I'm thinking based on the SQL Server error log
Example:
1 - Database Status changed. Online/Offline/Read-Only/Read-Write/etc
2 - Compatibility Level changed - This will be great to co-relate some situations with the CL change.
3 - Page Verify
EtcIn the end, any message that uses any of these texts:
SELECT * FROM sys.messages
WHERE text like '%Setting database%'This includes query store changes

Being able to type the (graph) zoom range time
Sometimes is hard to quickly get to the time range we want to analyse.
It would be handy if we could have a "free text" time box to type:
Zoom range Start: 11:10
Zoom range End: 11:313 votes -
Make it possible to mark a query to be tracked from the database menu
On the "Top queries" within the database menu, we can only "View estimated plan" and "Copy query text".
It would be handy to have here the "Track query" option too.
Nowadays, if I find it here, I need to filter on the top and only then I can "Track query"

Add a scroll bar to the backup list (bottom within the specific database)
When we go to the "Databases" at the bottom and we expand a specific one we get the list of the backups that happened during the period we have filtered.
For a better experience, this list should have a vertical scroll bar it it it will show more than 5/10(?) entries.
Otherwise the general scroll bar will become smaller, the page height increase a lot and we need to scroll much more

Being able to set alerts based on existing KPIs (Analysis Graph) instead of create a new custom metric
If I want to create an alert based on some existing KPIs, I need to write the query and can't leverage the existing one.
Example:
I want to create an alert when the "Tempdb: Free bytes" is lower than X.
I can't use the existing "SQL Server metrics" that contain this KPI.
Instead, I need to create a new custom metric and build the query. (which in the end it will be exactly the same). Only after that I can create an alert.2 votes -
When "Totals" is selected, on mouse over still display average values for the metrics
When we change from "Avg. per execution" to "Totals" the row order can change.
With bigger numbers, it becomes harder to quickly know if the average is high or not to decide to take a further look.
Instead of need to "Track query" and then click back and forth with "Avg. per execution" / "Totals" having the average on the tooltip when "Totals" is selected will be helpful.

Allow Job Name to be used for Long-running query alert exclusion
For a Long-running query alert, the Job Name is being collected but cannot easily be used for avoiding specific alerts from being triggered.

I would like to set up an alert for disk space projection threshold
Wanted to know if we can set up and alert when it reaches the threshold of less than a month of projection for disk - this is in the disk monitoring estate for Redgate .

Make "Source" hyperlink in Alert take you to the specific date time on the Server Overview Page
If I click on the "Source" Hyperlink in alert, this opens the server overview page for the relevant server, however, the displayed time frame is the default (24 hour period ending at the current time)
It would be helpful if the server overview page opened at the date / time of the alert as it is highly likely after clicking the hyperlink, that you are going to want to view the point in time of the alert

See Transaction Isolation Levels in Blocking Alerts
There are two methods I have been using to understand blocking situations on our servers:
The processes tab in the Blocking Process alert
The blocking processes section in the server overviewI can get a lot of information from both of these methods but I don't seem to be able to get the isolation levels of the blocking or blocked queries which would be helpful in understanding why the blocking situation has occurred.
Prior to using SQL monitor, we used the blocked process report to monitor blocking and these include the isolation levels. Unfortunately, I still have to resort to using these to get this information - it would be easier to keep all this within SQL Monitor
This information is invaluable as it helps to understand why certain locks have been taken, which may not be otherwise immediately obvious
Is there a way I can get this information?

Limit user access on clusters
I would like to be able to grant specific AD users / groups access to specific instances on a cluster. Currently its only possible to grant access at the cluster level which gives more access than is necessary. This would be a supremely useful feature for me!

Outlook calendar style view for SQL Agent jobs
This would be very useful for viewing all scheduled jobs in an Outlook-style calendar view. Also useful for scheduling new jobs to prevent conflicts.

Environment specific Reports
As we have option to create different reports on SQL Monitor, We would like to have the option to create the reports as per environment (Dev,UAT,Prod) for Disk Space,Server Downtime etc. It will be more feasible if we can get a filter to create reports for the specific environment.

Hi!
We want to put Banners on Top Global Dashboard to inform Users, that we planning Downtimes on SQL Monitor.
SQL Monitor has build in banners for unlicensed Servers and stuff like that. Would it be possible to show User Messages that there will be a Downtime on SQL Monitor?3 votes -
Database Tags
It would be great if, in addition to Instance Tags, we could assign tags to individual Databases as well. This could help in various ways in trying to determine what the purpose is of the vast number of databases we need to monitor and manage.

Superimpose the Disk I/O for VMWare Host on graph for Disk I/O
I'd like to get the Disk I/O for the VMWare Host superimposed on the graph just as I get CPU and Memory, it is very helpful to see the load on the host together with the load on the actual VM.

Save alert email addresses
I monitor a large enterprise and forward hundreds of alerts using cut/paste. If recent addresses were retained, it would save a lot of time.
