Enable and track wait stats

I would like to see an overview of wait statistics along with historical tracking of those waits. I currently have queries that would show the total wait time, but other tools I have used will provide a current snapshot of these waits as well as store them historically so that I can monitor changes.

Hi,

We are excited to annouce that SQL Monitor v4.0 has been released. This release contains Performance diagnostics features which let you analyze the waits and queries affecting SQL Server performance on the Instance overview and Database overview pages. Check out the release notes for more details.

    Hi Blaž,

    It was a difficult call, but we decided to mark the suggestion as completed because this is the only way to return peoples votes, and we could then get an idea of how important the 'historical tracking' aspect is, as people would be able to allocate those votes again accordingly.

    I hope that makes sense, however we acknowledge we could have approached this as per your suggestion.

    Hi Adam,

    Well, the historical tracking and analysis was already a part of this request, at least that's how I understand Mike's suggestion, which got a whole lot of votes. Now the idea has to start picking up votes from scratch? Can't say I agree. I'd prefer you tag this request as "started" (since a "partially completed" status doesn't exist).

    Thanks for following up on this. We agree that historical tracking was not implemented in this release. However, it's a great idea so please do add that as a new suggestion so other people can vote and comment on it.

    Hi Priya,

    Overview of wait stats as implemented in 4.0 is definitely an improvement, but I do not think you should close this request yet. Reason: Unless I missed something, the "historical" tracking (as in, with graphs, to allow for trend/baseline monitoring) was not implemented? I know one can use "rewind time" for a peek into the past, but it's not the same.
