Suggestions
Welcome to the Redgate Monitor feature suggestions list. Tell us how we can improve Redgate Monitor by voting on these suggestions or by submitting your own ideas.
This is the easiest way to make an impact on Redgate Monitor’s roadmap. Check out the completed suggestions to see how your ideas have influenced us in the past. Please note that this list is one of multiple sources that drive our development, meaning that we will not always implement the highest-ranking suggestions.
To give your idea the greatest possible impact, please follow these guidelines:
- Describe the goal you’re trying to accomplish, rather than a specific solution to get there
- If you have a favoured solution, add it as a comment to your suggestion
- Give us as much context as possible
- Only make one suggestion per post. If you have multiple ideas, submit them in separate posts
- Comment and vote on existing posts to develop the ideas — the Redgate Monitor team will often stay quiet initially about new suggestions to see what you have to say!
If you have any questions visit the Redgate Monitor forum.

using standard user rights one should be able to create an alert suppression and only remove one if that one was made by the same user
DEVOPs team know when they have planned changes and in that case it would be good that they can create alert suppression and after the change removing that without we need to grant them admin rights

Allow customisation of query execution threshold for Individual query monitoring
Individual query monitoring is currently either only catching or possible only displaying queries longer then 5 seconds. Should be great if it was possible to customise this threshold.

Improved windows range handling for Individual query monitoring
The current windows range on the new Query executions tab is fixed to 2 hours. Should be great if the length of the windows range could be customised.
At the same time make it working together with the zoom range on the History tab. This so if you have zoomed in to a certain time range on history tab then when opening Query executions the same time range should be used as the windows range. Alternatively you could use the same type of windows range and zoom range that are already used on the History tab.

Add CPU time to Individual query monitoring
Should be great if we can get CPU time column added to the new Query executions tab.
CPU time is in addition to logical reads/writes important when looking and performance of the different queries.

Enhance query tagging in monitior overview.
Add extra functionality to query tagging: allow colour coding of tags, add comment text to tagged queries, enable query tagging in postgresql (I am current using postgresql monitor v14.0.34 with server deployed SQL server, SQL Azure and PostgreSQL Aurora).
Is there any timeline for this?

Deploy the latest API when updating Redgate Monitor
I would like when installing the latest version of Redgate Monitor to have an option for it to deploy the latest version of the API as well to a location. The last few times I have done the install I have not updated the API right away as it been a set and forget thing. Comes the evening when it runs it fails due to the versions not being the same.
I have checked within the Program Files and 2/3 of the files are not there. (RedgateMonitor.psd1 and RedgateMonitor.psm1), so I cannot just have it import via that way.4 votes -
File Usage per File Group within the DB
Want to be able to set database file usage per drive level on the server level. But there are many times when a vendor created db, they have multiple data files mdf/ndf and have them set to limits. So i was wondering can we get even more granular. I want to be able to drill down to the database and select a particular file group and say ignore this drive, it has meet its capascity and even though its 100% filled data is no longer being written there. And the reason behind that is there can be multiple data files…

Have the RG tempdb table indexed
The RGAllObjectsv4 table in tempdb currently accounts for 7 of the top 20 missing index suggestions on our production server via the built-in report in SSMS. Can this be indexed by RG so that the indexes will be reapplied when the server or service is restarted? I've attached the list of suggestions.

Alert suppresion window by specific date every month
We do our maintenance on scheduled windows on the 20th and 21st day of every month, including weekends.
Currently, it is not possible to set up such a recurring alert suppression window.
Can you add this to the Redgate Monitor alert suppression settings?3 votes -
Pull Server Certification Info
Would like to request enhancement to be able to create a report to pull Server Certificate info, and have an email sent out to notify us 30/60/90 days before hand when it will expire. Pull details like the certificate issuer, validity period, and common name from the server certificate installed on the target machine.

Additional option on the Alert Suppression Windows
It would be great to have an additional option on the Alert Suppression Windows to have the ability to only stopping sending notification for new alerts and continue to send the notification for the end of alerts
I guess something like "Notification for new Alerts only (alerts will still be raised)"
The idea would be to receive the end of alert notifications for alerts that were ongoing when the alert suppression window started13 votes -
Allow changing first day of week
I would be nice to be able to configure the first day of the week as Monday, instead of Sundays. This is the most common definition of weeks in Europe. Other parts of the world have different perspectives, so any day should the selectable.
This is visible in all dropdowns where a date can be selected.1 vote -
Search by Query hash in Top queries
As discussed in https://forum.red-gate.com/discussion/91306/search-by-query-hash-in-top-queries/p1?new=1
it would be very useful to be able to search by Query hash in Top queries.Scenarios:
- for complex (and parametrized) queries it may not be enough to be searched by QueryText, DatabaseName or ParentObjectName;
- if queries impact is also investigated and tracked in external systems the QueryHash may be (the only common) field to quickly identify and find that query in Redgate Monitor.5 votes -
Set default Redgate Monitor time zone
My Redgate Monitor server is on a server with the time zone set to UTC. When I open a Redgate Monitor on that server I get all the times in UTC, which is great.
When I open a Redgate Monitor on my local computer, the GUI shows the times adjusted for my timezone.
Since my team is monitoring from different locations in different time zones, we get different times depending on the timezone.
I would like an option in Redgate Monitor configuration to easily set a default time zone so all the users can see the same time zone.

Track Aborted Sessions
The ability to view aborted sessions, either an alert or space on the overview page in a similar way to the TOP 10 queries.
Attached is the offering from SolarWinds.

Additional column for each statement with the total duration including the wait time
On the history dashboard, I would like to have an additional column in the top queries area in which the duration including the duration of the wait events is displayed for each statement.
So far I have assumed that these are already included in the existing duration column. In context with a service request, I understood that this is not the case.
At first glance, I need the actual total duration without manually adding the waits statement by statement.

Add alias to rest api
The rest endpoint api/v1/monitored-entities should include the alias field. It would present as an empty string if the monitored entity does not have as an alias and filled in if an alias has assigned to the monitored object.

I would like to customize the behavior when job failures happen. We get an alert on the 1st but no additional until the job is successful
I would like to customize the behavior when job failures happen. We get an alert on the 1st error but no additional alert until the job is successful. It would be nice to have the ability to allow this behavior as a default but then have the option to have specific Job Failures alert every time (mainly for jobs that run weekly or greater).

Server & instance stats on main window
I'd like to be able to see at a glance the basic details of my instance and the server on which it is running.
I would love if I could see the following on the main screen:
• SQL Server Version — SQL Server 2022 CU16 | 16.0.4150 (CU16)
• Server Version — WS 2022 21H2 | 20348.2762
• Instance details — 3x 3.0GHz | 12GB | 1TB (or whatever is allocated to the instance)
• Free Space — 0.1TB of 1TB (drives will have to be chosen)
• Instance status — SERVER\NAMEDINSTANCE
• No. of Instances — 6 (only…1 vote -
