Save and Export/Import sql monitor settings
Setting up custom alerts and servers is quite a bit of work. For example some jobs are more important than others. A different set of people get notified for some jobs. I have setup custom alert settings on many of the jobs this way. recently I had to move monitoring host to a different server and replicating same settings took me a lot of time. hence need ability to be able to export settings from one server and import to another. May be this will work through the monitoring database but I had to change the database from 2008 to 2005.

It would be great if this feature would ever be implemented. Not only for migration purposes, but also to your environments exactly the same (Prod vs DEV/CERT).

This would also apply to having multiple installations, due to security constraints from NIST 800-53. The ability to export "configurable items" on a regular recurring basis, such as custom alerts/metrics or alert settings from my lab settings to my production site, to maintain consistency, is crucial to the long term viable use of this tool.

Thanks for confirming. Yes, in this case it wouldn't have worked because you wont be able to restore 2008 backup to 2005.

I was moving the entire setup to a different server including base monitor, data repository etc.
Also the data repository was changed from sql server 2008 express to sql server 2005 standard. -
Hello ... thanks for your feedback. Just to clarify, did you change the SQL Monitor data repository database? If this was the case, then migrating this is very easy. The steps could be found here:
Thanks,
