Any news on this? My servers have horrible long network names that differ by just one character and I'd like to alias them to something like "Dev", "QA", "UAT", "Live" etc.

If I could assign 20 or more votes to just this NEED, I would...

I.P. names on some pages, Instance Names on others, Server Group names on yet others - WHAT A MESS OF INCONSISTENCY.

And then there are unintelligible email subject lines... I think it has been about FIVE YEARS since I was one of thaose asking for more control of the Subject line, at least. If that has been implemented, where, oh where, in the UI is it hidden, please...?

We have servers imposed on us with inconsistent names that don't especially describe their function. We would use the alias functionality to display e.g UK_FINANCE_PROD or USA_SALES_TEST. Thanks.

I have entered some servernames as IP's and some as names. I don't seem to be able to edit these without removing and re-adding them.

It would be useful to be able to Alias servers so other users know what they are at a glance rather than having to dial in or ask.

E.g. I could have a server with an IP of 100.100.100.100 but alias it as 'ReportServer1' so that it is clear what the server is for anyone else using the application to monitor.

Ability to add additional comments to the servers, instances and databases. This could be then used to create an at a glance reference for the usage of each server or database.

Taking the example from SQL Backup's file-naming tokens, <Instance>, <Server>, etc, would RG consider giving us a menu of selectable tokens like this so we can define our own subject line...?

I get:

before I see ANYTHING about the Alert itself...

Really need to be able to prioritize the order and content...

Allow the aility to show clusters as the SQL Server Network Name and or Instance name. This could be done by allowing a custom edit field on the cluster name or by simplig using the server name instead.

Would be great if you could comment each server to describe what databases it holds. The servers in our domain has names that is autogenerated (i.e consists of numbers)
